Pinehurst, N.C., June 10, 2024 – The Pinehurst branch of OsteoStrong® is proud to announce its partnership with Michael McGowan, a competitor in the 124th U.S. Open Championship. The 33-year-old Southern Pines native will take to the iconic Pinehurst No. 2 golf course on Thursday, June 13 to compete against 155 other players for the coveted championship title. OsteoStrong® is thrilled to support this talented Moore County local in his first U.S. Open, and they are honored to call him a loyal patron of their skeletal strength programs.
“Many of the clients we serve at OsteoStrong® are golfers, seeking good posture, great balance and strong bones,” says Kathy Virtue, owner of the company’s Pinehurst branch. “Michael understands that staying in great physical shape will help his game, so he is a natural fit for our brand.”
As the son of PGA Tour player Pat McGowan and renowned instructor Bonnie McGowan, Michael comes from a storied legacy of professional golf. His maternal grandmother Peggy Kirk Bell, who also called Southern Pines home, was a passionate advocate for women’s golf. Her remarkable career earned her a spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2019. Her son-in-law Pat also qualified for four U.S. Opens, and he was recognized as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 1978. The family’s deep connection to the Pinehurst area can be seen through the Pine Needles Resort & Lodge, a prestigious golf club purchased by Peggy and her husband, Warren “Bullet” Bell. The facility has hosted multiple tournaments, including four U.S. Women’s Opens. This historic legacy lives on in Michael, a graduate of the University at North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who grew up just a few miles from the site of his first U.S. Open.
“We are excited that one of our premier OsteoStrong® centers located in Pinehurst is sponsoring Michael McGowan at the 2024 U.S. Open,” says company CEO Kyle Zagrodzky. “The athletic performance improvements we’ve witnessed with our golfers over the years has been nothing short of amazing!”
With tried-and-tested exercises that improve balance, stability, muscle strength and posture, OsteoStrong® is ideal for golfers looking to get the most out of their swing. While their programs provide numerous benefits for people of all ages and abilities, professional athletes will find that by increasing their bone density through scientifically-proven biohacks, they can build a more powerful frame, therefore increasing their muscular engagement and strength.
“As any golfer knows, staying fit, strong and balanced is essential for a good round,” Michael says. “My weekly visit to OsteoStrong® of Pinehurst helps build stronger bones, better balance and improves my strength!”
