Chalmette, LA – DecoExchange is using its social platform to create a positive change in a local oncology clinic. Veronica Heimer with Just Add Glitter SATX has been heavily involved with the DecoExchange community for several years, and when the founders of DecoExchange heard she was going to put together a workshop to raise money for her daughter’s oncology clinic for children, Damon Oates and Parker Stelly knew they had to get involved.
The end goal was to provide kids access to craft supplies while they sit for hours on end during their chemo treatments. Providing craft supplies will help keep their young minds occupied, giving them something fun and entertaining to do, and mostly, giving them something to look forward to during their treatments.
In the blink of an eye, the DecoExchange community came together with creatives from around the country offering to provide extra content for her workshop, while others helped to promote the event and sell tickets.
“Our workshop alone raised just over $3,300 for craft supplies at my daughter’s oncology clinic. I have to thank the over 700 of y’all who joined us,” exclaimed Heimer on social media. “Thank you all for making this possible and for your patience. Never in a million years did I imagine so many of y’all would join us and I’m just blown away by the turnout!”
“Damon said ‘you know I had to double it, and he has offered to match what we raised,” Heimer added. “Oh, and then if that wasn’t enough, they raised even more! Last I heard, they had raised around $10,000! They have been our coaches for a while and honestly, I would have never even known how to do any of this if it weren’t for everything I learned from them, and then they show up like this to support us too! Just no words can express my appreciation!”
“Our regular weekly chemo appointment will be extra special because my daughter gets to take all these crafts and coloring books from our mini shopping spree at Five Below to leave for all the kids there!”
The success of this fundraiser was a group effort, including the following DecoExchange coaches:
Meghan Fugate @ Gal Vs Glue Gun, Jordan Llanez @ Designs by Jordan, Tammy Hodges @ Polka Dot Wreath Co, Derika Hill @ Derikas Designs, Stacy Chadwick @ Your Front Porch Designs, Mellisa Morrow @ Sincerely Creative Mom, Jacque Koch @ The Fancy Front Door
DecoExchange created a positive impact by promoting tickets, matching the dollar amount Veronica sold, spending a weekend designing, and selling the finished designs done by the coaches.
